This is a 1950 Indian Police Special and Police Sidecar owned by Jeff and Leni Alperin of Farmington,

ENGINE: Two cylinder 42 degrees V-twin, "L" head, air cooled. Bore 31/4, Stroke 4 13/16. Displacement 79.84 cu. in. 
CLUTCH: Multi-disc,left foot operated. Enclosed in oil bath in primary drive case.
DRIVE:Primary four row endless adjustable chain with "torque evener", finalchain. TRANSMISSION: Wide ratio three speed, sliding gear progressivetype [not synchromesh] with right hand shift.
LUBRICATION: Dry sumpfive gear pump delivers one quart of oil to main bearings every threemiles in high gear, scavenges oil from crank-case.
IGNITION: Batteryignition with single spark Auto-Lite distributor. 
ELECTRICAL: Indian 15plate, 29 ampere hour, 6 volt battery. Auto-Lite generator andregulator. Sealed beam headlight, unit tail light and stop light.
INSTRUMENTS: Lighted Corbin speedometer with rear wheel drive andmaximum speed indicator [police]. Generator charge indicator light. FRAME: Double tube cradle spring frame. Rear wheel mounted to enclosedspring units. Long action saddle spring fitted in vertical seat post. STANDS: Spring release center stand permits positioning machine toremove either wheel. FORK: Telescopic, hydraulically controlled plungerfork. Steering damper. 
HANDLEBAR: Full width curved adjustablerubber mounted. Left grip throttle, right grip spark advance [police]. 
TANKS: Main section capacity 9 quarts, reserve 5 quarts. Oil supply 21/2 quarts in right tank. FENDERS AND GUARDS: Full skirted design[Indian's trademark]. Full chain guard. 
SADDLE: solo saddle [police]. 
BRAKES: Water shielded, internal expanding, finned drums with 40.8 sq.in. molded linings. WHEELS AND TIRES: 4.50 X 18 in. tiresinterchangeable [with sidecar]. 
STARTER: Foot crank with ball-lockengagement and silent release. 
FINISH: Indian red enamel on tanks,fenders and toolbox. Black on frame, handlebars, engine guards,generator belt guard. Chrome on tank caps, shift lever, horn,headlight, instrument panel, rear bumper, exhaust pipes and muffler. 
WEIGHT: front 270, rear 300, total 570 lb.. 
SIDECAR: Leaf springsuspension. Leather seat and cushion with storage behind. Unit taillight and stop light. Full skirted fender. Additional brake drum. 4.50 X 18 in. tires. Spare wheel mounted on rear.

PERFORMANCE: [Without sidecar] Max. in low 45 mph, second 70 mph, high92 mph. Standing start to 40 mph in low gear, 6 sec. Standing start to60 mph in second gear, 12 sec. Standing start to 80 mph in high gear,22 sec. [With sidecar] maximum 60 mph. BRAKING: From 25 to stopped,both brakes, 28 ft. 9 in. TURNING CIRCLE: 16 ft. 8 in.
