Deputy Sheriff Ronald Ives

Deputy Ives was struck and killed by a vehicle driven by a person who had gone through a red light at a high rate of speed. 
Deputy Ives was passing through the intersection of Baseline Road and Archibald Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga when the driver of an SUV ran the red light and struck his police motorcycle at approximately 50 miles per hour. 
Deputy Ives was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries approximately one hour later. The 60 year-old driver of the vehicle who struck his motorcycle also died from injuries sustained in the accident. 
Deputy Ives had served with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department for 8 years. He is survived by his wife and son

Officer William L. Seuis

Officer Seuis was killed when his police motorcycle was struck by a tractor trailer on I-238 in Castro Valley. Officer Seuis was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries. 
The tractor trailer fled the scene, but was stopped by a California Highway Patrol officer approximately 10 minutes later and the driver was arrested. 
Officer Seuis had served with the Oakland Police Department for 16 years. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Police Officer Ramon A. Sepulveda Rosado

Officer Sepulveda died of injuries he received three days earlier when his department motorcycle was struck by a vehicle. 

Officer Sepulveda was assigned to escort duty with several other officers. Officer Sepulveda entered an intersection to stop traffic and was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop at a stop sign. Officer Sepulveda was thrown to the ground and received an injury to his head. He was taken to a local hospital where he died three days later. 
Officer Sepulveda had served with the Carolina Municipal Police Department for 13 years, and is survived by his wife and six children.

Deputy Sheriff Wesley Mack 
Columbia County Sheriff's Office Georgia
Deputy Mack succumbed to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident the previous day on I-20. 
The deputy had just completed a traffic stop and was merging back onto the highway from the median, when his motorcycle collided with an SUV. 
Deputy Mack was flown to Medical College of Georgia Hospital where he succumbed to serious head injuries the following day. 
Deputy Mack was a U.S. Army veteran, and had served with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office for 7 years. He is survived by his three children.

Officer James M. Goodman 
California Highway Patrol
California
Officer Goodman was killed when his motorcycle collided head-on with a minivan as he was pursuing a suspect involved in an earlier accident. The collision occurred when Officer Goodman entered an intersection during the pursuit. 

The driver of the vehicle Officer Goodman was pursuing, continued to flee and remains at large. Officer Goodman was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. 

Officer Goodman had served with the California Highway Patrol for 20 years.

Chief of Police Douglas A. Shertzer Sr.
Lititz Borough Police Department Pennsylvania
Chief Shertzer was killed in a motorcycle accident while on duty. He was driving the department's motorcycle through East Hempfield Township when he was involved in the accident. He was transported to Lancaster General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

He had completed a police motorcycle training course earlier in the month, and was driving the department's new motorcycle. 

Chief Shertzer had served as chief of the 14-person Lititz Borough Police Department for 10 years, and had served with the agency for a total of 23 years.

Police Officer James (Jim) Lewis 
Tacoma Police Department Washington 
Officer Lewis was killed when his department motorcycle collided with a vehicle. 

Officer Lewis was responding to back up another officer who had just stopped a suspected wanted felon. Officer Lewis was southbound on Alaska Street with his emergency lights flashing and its siren blaring. A line of cars also headed south on Alaska, stopped in the street just before 55th Street, as Officer Lewis approached. Officer Lewis swung his motorcycle into the northbound lanes to pass them. Another motorist near the head of the line, tried to turn left off Alaska Street onto 55th Street. The motorist unknowingly steered her car right into Officer Lewis' path. 

Officer Lewis' Kawasaki Police 1000 motorcycle slammed into the car near the front of the driver's side door. Officer Lewis was thrown from the motorcycle. His head struck the ground when he landed. Officer Lewis was removed to Tacoma General Hospital, where he died about three hours later. 

Officer Lewis had served with the Tacoma Police Department for 19 years

Lieutenant LeRoy Henry Nennig Jr.
Sheboygan County Sheriff's Department Wisconsin

Lieutenant Leroy Nennig was killed in a motorcycle accident while stopping to assist at the scene of a vehicle fire. 
He was returning from an assignment at a professional golf tournament when he came upon the vehicle fire. As he slowed down in preparation to render aid, his motorcycle was struck from behind by another vehicle. He was killed instantly upon impact.
Lieutenant Nennig was a US Marine Corps veteran and had served with the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Department for 30 years. He is survived by his wife, three sons, and parents.

Police Officer Steven Phillips 
Westminster Police Department California

Officer Phillips was killed in a motorcycle accident at the intersection of Trask Avenue and Jackson Street. The driver of the other car failed to stop at a stop sign while turning onto Trask Avenue. Officer Phillips' motorcycle struck the driver's side door of the other car. He was transported to a hospital in Huntington Beach where he died of his injuries about one hour later. The driver of the car also died of his injuries sustained in the accident. 

Officer Phillips had served with the Westminster Police Department for 18 years. He is survived by his wife.
