Police Officer Wilfredo Santiago Sánchez San Juan Municipal Police Department, PR Officer Sánchez was killed after his police motorcycle was struck from behind while he was stopped a stoplight. The driver of the vehicle which struck him had fallen asleep behind the wheel of his car. Officer Sánchez had been with the agency for 21 years and is survived by his wife, two sons, and daughter. |

Sergeant Timothy Joe Hunt Alcoa Police Department, TN Sergeant Hunt died a day after being involved in an accident while driving his police motorcycle. Sergeant Hunt was driving on U.S. 29 when a pickup truck pulled out from a cross street in front of him. With no time to react, his motorcycle struck the pickup truck, causing him to suffer serious internal injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he died early the next day. He had been with the agency for six years and is survived by his wife. |

Deputy Sheriff Steven Edward Parsons Orange County Sheriff's Department, CA Deputy Parsons died five days after being involved in an accident while driving his police motorcycle. Deputy Parsons was travelling through an intersection when another vehicle ran a red-light, striking him. He was transported to a local hospital where he remained in critical condition before passing away. He had been with the agency for 11 years and is survived by his wife, six-year-old daughter, three-year-old son, parents, and sister. |

Police Officer William Harris Williams Miami Police Department, FL Officer Williams was killed when his motorcycle was struck by a car while he was escorting a funeral procession. He was following alongside the procession when one of the participating vehicles made an abrupt left turn, cutting in front of Officer Williams. He collided with the vehicle and was thrown from the motorcycle, suffering severe head injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he remained in critical condition for two days before he was removed from life support. He had been with the agency for 20 years and is survived by his wife and five children. |

Police Officer Dennis Michael Licata Denver Police Department, CO Officer Licata died after being involved in a motorcycle accident while responding to the scene of a construction accident with lights and sirens. During the response Officer Licata's Harley-Davidson motorcycle collided with a small vehicle, throwing him from the bike. He was transported to a local hospital where he died a short time later. Officer Licata had received eight commendations during his four years with the department. He is survived by his 3-year-old daughter. |

Senior Customs Inspector Richard Anthony Forde United States Customs Service, US Investigator Forde was killed in a motorcycle accident while en route to Newark International Airport for an assignment. While driving a tractor trailer pulled into his lane. He was unable to avoide a collision and struck the rear of it. The Customs Service had authorized him to use his personal motorcycle on the assignment and declared his death as a line of duty death. Investigator Forde had been with the agency for five years and was survived by his wife and two children. |

Constable Alain Matte Constable Alain Matte died 17 days after being involved in an accident while driving his police motorcycle. Constable Matte was simply returning to the police station when a car turned left after the priority signal had expired and hit him full force. Constable Matte landed on a parked car, moving it 12 inches before hitting the edge of the sidewalk with his head just below his helmet. He spent 2 1/2 weeks in a coma before passing away. He was a devoted police officer, a loving father and husband and a skilled motorcyclist (he had been riding since he was 14). He is survived by his wife and 2 children. |

Officer MacClary was attemptign to stop a speeder when another vehicle turned in front of him during rush hour traffic. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Officer MacClary had been with the agency for four years. He was survived by his wife, who was nine-months pregnant at the time of the accident, and his 12-year-old daughter |

Police Officer II Chad Lee Elkins New Iberia Police Department, LA Officer Elkins was killed when his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle while he was escorting a funeral procession. The vehicle which struck Officer Elkins was stopped at a stop sign and the driver's view was impaired by other vehicles. The driver of a third vehicle motioned to the driver to proceed. The driver entered the intersection and struck Officer Elkins. The driver of the third vehicle fled the scene. The driver who struck Officer Elkins was charged with Failure to Yield. Officer Elkins had been with the agency for four years. |

Police Officer Orlando Casado Molina Carolina Municipal Police Department, PR Officer Molina was killed when his police motorcycle was struck by another vehicle while on routine patrol. The vehicle drifted into Officer Molina's lane and pushed his motorcycle into oncoming traffic. Officer Molina succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He had been with the agency for ten years and is survived by a child. |

The driver of the truck was making a left hand turn when the two vehicles collided. Officer Hiatt was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Officer Hiatt had been with the agency for six years and had been in law enforcement for 14 years. He is survived by his wife and two young children. |
