Deputy Mark William Brown King County Sheriff's Department, WA Deputy Brown died two days after being involved in a motorcycle accident while responding to a false robbery alarm at a bank. He was responding with lights and sirens when a car pulled out in front of him, causing him to collide with it. Deputy Brown suffered head and internal injuries in the accident and was put on life support for two days and died after being taken off of it. He is survived by his wife and two children. He had been with the agency for ten years. |

Master Deputy Steven Wesley Roberts St. Lucie County Sheriff's Department, FL Master Deputy Roberts died almost a month after being struck on his motorcycles while responding to an accident call. Deputy Roberts approached a vehicle that was in the left lane of a road and attempted to pass it on the right. As he was doing so, the vehicle entered the right lane and struck Deputy Roberts' motorcycle, pushing it into a light pole. Deputy Roberts suffered severe internal injuries in the accident and both of his legs were amputated just below his thighs. A rack of clothes hanging in the back seat blocked the suspect’s view. The suspect's driving record at the time of accident included 19 citations and he had been involved in eight traffic accidents, one them fatal. |

Deputy Ron King Douglas County Sheriff On May 21, 1999, Deputy Ron King, was on a two lane road returning from a seatbelt enforcement campaign riding in tandem with his riding partner Deputy Chris Washburn. A drunk driver turned in front of Deputy King and Deputy Washburn, there was not enough time or space to avoid a collision. Deputy Ron King was killed as result of the collision while Deputy Chris Washburn was seriously injured but survived the impact. Douglas County, Colorado Sheriff's Office. |

Deputy Sheriff Donald Carlton Johnson Jr. Bay County Sheriff's Office, FL Deputy Johnson was killed when his police motorcycle was struck head-on while he was escorting a funeral procession. Deputy Johnson and the procession were heading westbound when three cars approached from the east. Deputy Johnson motioned for the cars to pull off of the roadway so that the procession could pass. The first two cars began to pull off, but the third vehicle swerved into the middle of the road and struck Deputy Johnson head-on, causing him to flip into the windshield and over top of the pickup truck. The impact was so severe that it knocked his helmet and gun belt off. The driver of the second car told officers that the pickup truck had been tailgating and attempting to pass her car for miles. The driver of the vehicle that struck Deputy Johnson was issued a traffic citation for an illegal lane change. Deputy Johnson was transported to a local hospital where he died approximately two and a half hours later. He had been with the agency for eight years and is survived by his wife and two young children. |

Motor Officer Daniel Charles Kelley Maywood Police Department, CA Officer Kelley died of injuries ten days after being involved in a motorcycle accident while on duty. Officer Kelley's police motorcycle and another vehicle collided with another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle, who was unlicensed and uninsured, pulled out of a driveway and struck Officer Kelley. He was thrown from his motorcycle and suffered a broken shoulder bone, a collapsed lung, crushed ribs, a ruptured spleen and a spinal injury. He had graduated from motor school six days before the accident and had been in law enforcement, with several different agencies, for 15 years |

Police Officer Kevin Robert Greener Fort Lee Police Department, NJ Officer Greener was killed in a motorcycle accident while travelling to a patrol tactics class he was teaching. The accident caused his motorcycle to leave the roadway and ejected Officer Greener into a cement wall. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. He is survived by his wife and two sons. |
