Officer Wyley Hart Shepherd
Atlanta Police Department, GA
Officer Shepherd died from injuries sustained 31 years earlier in a motorcycle accident. He had remained in a coma the entire time since the accident.  Officer Shepherd is survived by his wife and son.

Officer Clarence W. Dean

Motor Officer Dean, 46 had left his Lancaster home and was on the freeway headed for work within minutes of the powerful 4:31 a.m. earthquake, even though his shift did not start for more than two hours, " I can only assume that was hurrying on in because of the earthquake," said Lt. Bob Normandy.  Dean was killed when he rounded a bend on the transition road from the Antelope Valley Freeway to the southbound Golden State Freeway.  A section of the elevated road had collapsed in the quake, and Dean could not stop before plunging 30 feet off the severed highway.

Deputy Sheriff Ricky A. Yates

Deputy Yates, 43, was killed when his motorcycle was struck head on by a pickup truck which was passing other traffic on a foggy night.  Deputy Yates was thrown from his motorcycle and killed instantly.  He had been with the agency for nine years and is survived by his wife, two daughters, son, and grandson.

Officer Dawson was killed in an on-duty motorcycle accident. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

Officer William E. Lehn
Fresno Police Department, CA
Officer Lehn, 38, was killed when his motorcycle was struck by another vehicle during a pursuit. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, step-son, grandson, mother and brother.

Officer John Reid Sandifer
Jackson Police Department, MS
Officer Sandifer died one day after his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle making a U-turn. He is survived by his wife, step-son, and step-daughter.
