Police Officer Peter Mayo Price
Clearwater Police Department, FL
Officer Price was killed in a motorcycle accident while responding to an emergency call. As he entered an intersection the driver of an oncoming vehicle turned left in front of him, causing his motorcycle to strike it. He was thrown from the bike and suffered severe head and internal injuries. He succumbed to his injuries approximately 45 minutes later.
Officer Price had been with the agency for three years and was survived by his wife, parents, and two brothers. 
April 01, 1969
Officer John W. Phillips
Knoxville Police Department, TN
Officer Phillips was killed in a motorcycle accident while on patrol on Clinton Highway. He was thrown from the motorcycle when it struck a guard rail and sign post. 
June 02, 1969
Officer Joseph Frank Sykes Jr.
East Point Police Department, GA
Officer Sykes was killed in a motorcycle accident while responding to another accident. A vehicle struck his motorcycle, causing a fatal head injury. Officer Sykes was not wearing a helmet as they were required or considered a piece of safety equipment at the time.  Officer Sykes had been with the agency for three years. 
July 16, 1969
Officer Richard G. Woods
California Highway Patrol, CA
Officer Richard G. Woods was enroute to court to testify in a criminal case when he encountered stop-and-go traffic on the freeway. Woods was in the process of changing lanes when the traffic ahead of him came to a sudden stop. The patrol officer’s motorcycle struck the rear of a panel truck that stopped in front of him killing the 29-year-old patrolman. Officer Woods was a member of the CHP for almost three years and had served in Central Los Angeles before being assigned to Baldwin Park.
September 1, 1969
Reserve Motor Deputy Lionel W. Dashley 
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department California

Reserve Deputy Dashley was killed in a motorcycle accident while pursuing a vehicle on the Pacific Coast Highway. During the pursuit his motorcycle went out of control and struck a truck head-on.

Reserve Deputy Dashley had been with the agency for six years and was assigned to the Special Enforcement Bureau Reserve Motors Detail.



 
September 04, 1969
Officer Robert M. Blomo
California Highway Patrol, CA
Officer Robert M. Blomo was on patrol when his motorcycle struck a tractor trailer that pulled out in front of him at an intersection. Blomo’s motorcycle was dragged 82 feet, slid into a curb and burst into flames, killing the patrol officer. The 25-year-old officer had been a member of the CHP for three years and assigned to Baldwin Park since graduating from the Academy in 1966.
