Officer Bryan Scoggins Midland Police Department, TX Officer Scoggins was killed in a motorcycle accident at Main Street and Hamby Street while escorting a funeral procession. He was thrown from the bike and struck a curb. Although he was wearing a helmet he suffered a skull fracture and succumbed to his injuries ten days later. Officer Scoggins had been with the agency for four years and was survived by hish wife, son, and daughter. |

The driver of the vehicle was charged with manslaughter. Officer Wilson had been with the agency for four years and was survived by his wife and three children. |
September 17, 1961 Constable Wayne Sinclair Royal Canadian Mounted Police Age: 24 Constable Sinclair was stationed at Regina, Saskatchewan at the time of his death. Constable Sinclair died from injuries he received when the motorcycle he was riding left the road and crashed. |

Officer Richard E. Kunkle Burbank Police Department, CA Officer Kunkle was on patrol and attempting to catch a motorist. A vehicle pulled out from a side street and partially into oncoming traffic. When the driver saw the officer appraching with his red lights on he tried to back up, out of the officers way. Officer Kunkle tried to avoid the vehicle by trying to pass to the rear. Officer Kunkle lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown to the pavement, striking his head. Ofc Kunkle died from his injuries one hour later.. |
