Officer Carlo A. Poggetto

Officer Poggetto was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1957 while attempting to stop a vehicle. He was in the process of conducting a traffic stop when he observed another serious violation take place. As he attempted to catch up with the suspect another vehicle turned left in front of him, causing a collision. The exact date of the incident is unknown. Officer Poggetto had been with the agency for eith years.

Officer Jessing was killed in a motorcycle accident while chasing a speeding motorist on Imperial Highway. He succumbed to his injuries the next day.

Warden Thompson was killed in a motorcycle accident while assigned to Missoula, Montana. He was test drivng a new off-road motorcycle for a new program intended for patrolling mountain trails. Warden Thompson was unfamiliar with the controls on the motorcycle and accidentally caused it to accelerate, causing it to driver off of a cliff

Officer Harmon was killed when a car struck his motorcycle

Officer Delmage was on his way to investigate an accident when his motorcycle collided with a vehicle at a downtown intersection. He had been on the force for 2 years and in the traffic section only 2 months. 

As a result of this accident, the Police Service ordered that safety Helmets were to be worn by all motorcycle officers.

Police Officer Billy Howard Stephens
Coral Gables Police Department, FL
Officer Stephens was killed in a motorcycle accident while he and another officer escorted a local high school football team to a game. Another vehicle made an illegal left turn in front of the officers, causing the collision. Both officers had lights and sirens on at the time. Officer Stephens had been with the agency for four years and was survived by his wife and infant daughter.

Patrolman DeFrancesco was killed in a motorcycle accident on Sunrise Highway in Long Island. He had been with the agency for eight years.

Officer Rauchut was killed in a motorcycle accident while on duty. He was assigned to Motorcycle Unit 2.
