Officer Joseph A. Stucker was performing a vital war-time duty escorting a military convoy when his motorcycle was sideswiped by truck that was attempting to pass. Stucker died at the scene. The 31-year-old patrolman had been a member of the CHP for six years.

Officer Walter C. Maxey

Officer Walter C. Maxey was making a left turn off U.S. Highway 6 near Newhall when his motorcycle kickstand dropped, dug into the pavement and sent the motorcycle into a sharp spin. Maxey was thrown violently to the ground and sustained fatal injuries. He had been a member of the CHP for seven years.

Officer Frederick Wales was patrolling on his motorcycle when he spotted a speeding motorist. Wales initiated a high-speed pursuit of the speeder, but lost control of his motorcycle and crashed.

Trooper Brownfield was killed after his motorcycle struck a stray cow in the road. Trooper Brownfield had been with the agency for seven years.

Officer Nelson S. Dwelly
California Highway Patrol, CA
Officer Nelson S. Dwelly was patrolling with CHP Officer J.C. Glass when Glass saw the wheel of Dwelly's motorcycle start to wobble and then the motorcycle turned over several times with Dwelly still in the seat. The 37-year-old patrol officer had been a member of the CHP for less than one year.

Constable Hainer was fatally injured when he lost control of the police motorcycle he was driving and crashed into another vehicle.

Newport News Police Department, VA
Officer Parks was killed when his police motorcycle collided with a city transit bus. He had been with the agency for four months.

Officer Richard S. Booth
Tampa Police Department, FL
Officer Booth was killed in a motorcycle accident at Louisiana Avenue and 11th Street while pursuing a vehicle. His bike flipped over when he struck a dip in the pavement. Officer Booth was survived by his wife, daughter, and two sons.

Trooper Gohery was killed when he was thrown from his motorcycle while perusing a speeding vehicle in the Village of Freeport on Long Island.
