Officer M. Paul Mengedoth

Officer Mengedoth was on routine patrol riding his motorcycle through the tunnel of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge when a vehicle crossed the center divider directly into his path and struck his motorcycle head-on. Officer Mengedoth, 30, was killed instantly.

Trooper Mott was killed in a motorcycle accident on Post Road in North Kingstown after his motorcycle experienced mechanicl troubles, causing him to go off the road and strike a tree.

Constable Wilfred J. Cox

Constable Cox was on his way to direct traffic for a funeral when his motorcycle tire got caught in a street railway track. He was thrown to the ground and died while being transferred to hospital. 

Constable Cox was the first Motorcycle Police Officer fatality on the force.

Deputy Supervisor Arnold B. Gulzow
Colorado State Patrol, CO
Deputy Gulzow succumbed to injuries received four days earlier while on traffic duty at Red Rocks, Colorado. He was traveling in slow moving traffic when a vehicle made a left turn in front of him, causing a collision. 
Deputy Gulzow had been with the agency for six years.

CHP - Bay Bridge 
Officer Leslie Lauterwasser, 30, was patrolling at midnight near Tiburon on the approach to the Golden Gate Bridge when a vehicle he was following abruptly made a U-turn. Lauterwasser's motorcycle crashed broadside into the automobile killing the patrolman instantly. The driver was jailed and charged with drunk driving and negligent homicide.

Officer Fogarty was killed in a hit-and-run accident while on his police motorcycle. He was patrolling the Rock Creek Parkway in Washington, DC, when the accident occurred.
Officer Fogarty had been with the agency for 25 years.
