Officer Edward L. Bond was patrolling along a levee road in Sacramento County when his motorcycle skidded as he was rounding a curve.  Bond lost control and was hurled over the embankment. The 38-year-old patrolman had served with the Patrol four years.

Patrolman Alson E. McCasland
Denver Police Department, CO
On April 13, 1935, Patrolman McCasland was traveling east on a motorcycle. At East 19th and Clarkson, his motorcycle struck a car driven by Miss Muriel Painter. The motorcycle overturned and McCasland suffered a fractured left arm, brain concussion and numerous cuts. He died from complications on May 28, 1935.

Deputy Tidwell was killed when his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle that was attempting to pass another vehicle. He had been with the agency for five years and was survived by his wife and three children.

Trooper Laurence was killed when his motorcycle suddenly lurched forward and struck a tree. 
Trooper Laurence had been with the agency for seven years.

Officer John W. Dieken
Dallas Police Department, TX
Officer Dieken was killed in a motorcycle accident while responding to a fire call. During his response another motorist turned in front of him causing a collision. He succumbed to his injuries the next day.
Officer Dieken had been with the agency for one year and was survived by his wife, son, parents, and sister.

Police Officer Lavon B.New
Turlock Police Department, CA
While he was pursuing a vehicle with his police Harley-Davidson , he was involved in an accident. He had a collision with another vehicle on June 23, 1935. The force of the collision was so great that the rear axle of the car was torn away. He was taken to Emanuel Hospital in Turlock. He was transferred to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Stockton (now called St. Joseph’s Medical Center) for extensive surgery. He was expected to survive, so his death came as a shock to his family and the city. He died from his injuries on August 14, 1935. He was survived by his wife Vera and a six-year-old son, Bayne. He was a native of Oklahoma City, his remains were sent back there for burial. Officer New came from a law enforcement family. His father Amos New was a Texas Ranger and a U.S. Marshall who rode with Pat Garrett.

Patrolman Leroy S. Bedell

Patrolman Bedell was killed in a motorcycle accident while patrolling State Route 4 in Erie County. He was stationed at Bellevue.

Officer Ivan Casselman
California Highway Patrol, CA
Officer Ivan Casselman was killed when his patrol motorcycle crashed into the back of a truck near Davis in Yolo County. Witnesses said Casselman was thrown fifteen feet off the roadway after striking the rear of a truck he was attempting to pass. The 33-year-old patrolman died hours later from his injuries. Casselman was a seven-year member of the Yolo County Squad.

Officer Baxter was killed in a motorcycle accident while attempting to stop a speeding vehicle. Another vehicle turned in front of him. He attempted to take evasive action but lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into a building.
Officer Baxter had been with the agency for six months and was survived by his wife and son.

Officer English was killed when his police motorcycle was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of Hiawatha Boulevard and Van Rensselaer Street.

Patrolman Beitman succumbed to injuries received in a motorcycle accident one week earlier. He had been with the agency for ten years.

Chief of Police Andrew J. Clothier Jr.
Norwood Police Department, PA
Chief Clothier was killed in a motorcycle accident while on patrol. He was struck by a sedan at the intersection of Chester Pike and West Winona Avenue. The driver of the other vehicle was arrested but was later released after the jury found that there was no criminal intent.  Chief Clothier had been with the agency for five years and was survived by his wife.

Officer Charles H. Nissen
California Highway Patrol, CA
Officer Charles H. Nissen was pursuing a traffic violator when a vehicle ahead of him slowed for a turn. Nissen applied his brakes to reduce his speed, but his motorcycle struck the rear of the vehicle and skidded. The patrolman was thrown to the pavement and died at the scene.
