Russell, 35, was chasing a speeder on Pomona Valley Boulevard when he was struck by an automobile that turned in his path without signaling. Russell was thrown from his motorcycle and died a few hours later. Reckless-driving charges were filed against the motorist. |

Officer First Class Imia Doran Hubbard Maryland State Police, MD Officer Hubbard was killed in a motorcycle accident at Washington Boulevard and Savage Street in Laural, Maryland. He had been with the agency for just under three years |

Officer Ted Davis California Highway Patrol, CA Officer Ted Davis, 37, was carrying out the emergency assignment of escorting doctors and nurses through rubble-strewn streets following the 1933 Long Beach earthquake. Davis' motorcycle struck a hole in the pavement that had been damaged by the quake, throwing him to the ground and killing him instantly. |

Officer John A. Daroux California Highway Patrol, CA Officer John A. Daroux was struck by a vehicle that was closely following the patrolman along Auburn Boulevard in Sacramento. Apparently the brakes on Daroux's motorcycle locked abruptly and the vehicle behind him was unable to slow and avoid striking the motorcycle. The 36-year-old patrolman was rushed to the hospital but died two days later without regaining consciousness. Daroux had served as a sergeant in the army air service in France during World War I |

Officer Jack E. Marks California Highway Patrol, CA Officer Jack B. Marks was patrolling on his motorcycle in tandem with Officer Frank Freeman along Foothill Boulevard in Cucamonga. Marks' wind visor apparently became interlocked with the handlebars on Freeman’s motorcycle and the accidental contact caused both officers to be thrown to the ground. Freeman suffered collar and shoulder injuries, but Marks died before he reached the hospital. Officer Marks, 34, had been a police officer with the city of Colton in 1921 and an officer with the county motor patrol squad in 1924. He was made a Highway Patrol officer in 1929 when the county squad merged with the CHP. |

Officer Albert Fredrickson Galveston Police Department, TX Officer Fredrickson was killed in a motorcycle accident at Seawall and 15th Street while responding to a report of an overturned vehicle. During the response his motorcycle collided with a parked trailer. Officer Fredrickson had been with the agency for six years and was survived by his wife and child. |

Hersperger Montgomery County Police Department, MD Patrolman Hersperger was killed when his police motorcycle was struck by a vehicle which crossed the center line of Rockville-Darnestown Road. He was en route to work at the Bethesda Substation at the time. The driver of the other vehicle was charged with reckless driving and manslaughter. |

Householder Pennsylvania Highway Patrol, PA Patrolman Householder was killed when his police motorcycle was struck by a reckless driver while patrolling U.S. Route 120 in Upper Augusta Township. The driver was charged with involuntarymanslaughter. Patrolman Householder had been with the agency for just over five years and was survived by his mother. |

Trooper Jerome B. Nugent New York State Police, NY Trooper Nugent was killed when a German Shepherd dog ran in front of his motorcycle and he was thrown from the motorcycle. Trooper Nugent had been with the agency for five years. |

Officer James R. Cummings Austin Police Department, TX Officer Cummings was responding to a shots fired call when his motorcycle struck another vehicle at 14th Street and Red River Road while responding to an emergency call. |
Officer Jesse Emmett Griffin Dallas Police Department, TX Officer Griffin was killed in a motorcycle accident while responding to a stabbing call. During his response another driver turned in front of him causing a collision. He succumbed to his injuries the next day. Officer Griffin had been with the agency for four years and was survived by his wife and daughter. |
