Officer Hugh K. Painter

Officer Painter succumbed to injuries received in a motorcycle accident several days earlier while chasing a speeder. The driver of the vehicle turned off his lights and slammed on his brakes, causing Officer Painter to strike the rear of the vehicle at over 60 mph.
Officer Painter had been with the agency for only six months.

Police Officer Charles B. Faulkner
Little Rock Police Department, AR
Officer Faulkner succumbed to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident two days earlier. He was responding to a drunken brawl when a vehicle turned in front of him. Unable to avoid a collision, Officer Faulkner's motorcycle slid and went under the vehicle.
Officer Faulkner was a World War I veteran and had been with the agency for four years. He was survived by his father, two brothers, and two sisters.

Maine State Police, ME
Patrolman Gooch was killed in a motorcycle accident while on duty in Mattawamkeag, Maine.

Officer J. Clark ETHERIDGE
Houston Police Department, TX
Officer Etheridge was killed in a motorcycle accident while pursuing a speeding car when another vehicle pulled out in front of him. The motorcycle skidded and turned over, causing Officer Etheridge to slide under the vehicle.
He was survived by his wife, parents, and three sisters.

Trooper Theodore A. Dobbs
New York State Police, NY
Trooper Dobbs died after he was struck by a truck that had passed a stop sign and entered Jericho Turnpike in Mineola, New York. Trooper Dobbs lost his leg to surgical amputation and later succumbed to infection and pneumonia.

New York City Police Department, NY
Officer Honahan was killed in a motorcycle accident while on patrol. He was assigned to the Motorcycle Division.

Private Bernard S C McElroy
Pennsylvania State Police, PA
Private McElroy was injured when his motorcycle collided with a passenger car in the city of New Castle. He was seriously injured and was taken to the New Castle Hospital where he died the following day. 
Private McElroy had been with the agency for two years and was survived by his mother
