Patrolman Stapleton was killed while responding to a report of a fire. Patrolman Stapleton was on his motorcycle and was following a fire truck, when he ran into the fire truck. 
Patrolman Stapleton had been with the agency for 11 years.

Patrolman James McGinley

34 Year old Patrolman McGinley was killed in a motorcycle accident while on duty. He was attempting to adjust the carburetor on the motorcycle while he was driving it, causing him to lose control crash into a curb.

Patrolman McGinley had served with the agency for 8 years. He was survived by his wife and six children.

Officer Wright was killed in a collision with a mail collector.

New Haven Police Department Connecticut
Patrolman Robbins was killed in a motorcycle crash while pursing a vehicle.
Patrolman Robbins had served with the New Haven Police Department for 7 months and was survived by his wife and two children.

Park Policeman John F. Maher 
South Park District Police Department Illinois
Policeman John Maher was assigned to motorcycle patrol. The officer's primary responsibility was to enforce traffic rules and regulations. While attempting a traffic stop, Policeman Maher pursued a speeding motorist and struck a vehicle at the intersection of 37th Street and Michigan Avenue. Policeman Maher died as a result of the injuries he received in the accident.

Patrolman Groeshner was killed when his police motorcycle was struck by a brewery truck.
Patrolman Groeshner was survived by his wife.

Patrolman John Kenny

Patrolman John Kenny succumbed to injuries sustained almost 2 weeks (November 11, 1916),  earlier when he was struck by a dairy delivery truck. 
The impact crushed one of his legs so severely that it had to be amputated. He remained in the hospital until succumbing to the injury 12 days later.
