1978 Kawasaki CHiPs KZ 1000 Police Model C motorcycle. 24,507 original miles. The bike is complete and includes a reproduction period rear GE radio box. This looks exactly like the bikes used in the second series of the CHiPs TV program staring the dynamic duo Ponch and John.
After I purchased the bike I had a local bike store that specializes in classic bike work remove most of the parts of the bike including the tank, fenders, etc stripped them and repainted with the old CHP logo clear coated onto the tank, the original seat was recovered and looks great. I also have fitted an antenna on the rear and a Motorola radio head rounds out the look.
The engine has been completely overhauled with a total teardown and all new parts and gaskets installed. The engine cases were bead blasted and re-assembled. All carbs were stripped refurbished and re-jetted. The electrics were gone over in detail and a new DynaTek electronic ignition with all new ignition coils were fitted, new plugs and of course oil filter and oil.
A new exhaust system was fitted with no rust or ugly marks anywhere. All chrome work is bright and looks appealing along with the dual speed dials which both work with the pursuit speed lock switch. A Solid Red and flashing red to the front matches the CHP pursuit light policy.
Tires, chain and controls on the bike are excellent, we just need a CHiPs enthusiast and you are all set. I do have a siren I can mount to the bike if required.
This was a great project for me and was worth the money and time invested. It fulfilled a boyhood dream for me.

P1 for sale. low serial number (570) places this bike in the coveted first 1000 made. I have a 1994 kz1000 police special i road it as a police officer for a suburb of denver and i only put 7,500 miles on it. i purchased it when we replaced it and i put new tires, brakes, windshield, all new crash bars, new foot pads, brake pads this bike is in perfect condition. The battery is new the carbs were just cleaned and the bike has all the red and blue strobes front and back with unitrol siren which is the good one. this bike also comes with the radio box no tears in the seat always garaged it was my bike the entire time. i promise you will not be disappointed.

Great gas mileage, fun to ride, and very dependable. This was a retired bike from Austin PD, and then purchased by a movie company. This bike was used in the movie Sin City. I have done a lot of work to the bike to make sure it will get me there and back no matter where, I replaced all the rubber and gasket I could get to. I built a rider back rest and replaced the seat with a new one. All the lights and siren works on this bike, it runs great and looks great. I have built a passenger seat and backrest for this bike so it will work as a cruiser. I have also wired it so that you can use an ipod or a walkman for some good times tunes. I will consider a trade of equal value, she wants a boat. This bike is one of the best out there I have seen to that. I need to move this bike; any questions please email me or call 817-903-2634.

Bought a bike and had the the pursuit lights removed? Here is an alternative. These are rubber mounted light housings. The come with either the spotlight bulb or the trapiziodial (fluted) pattern that spreads out the beam over a wider pattern. Those are the one I suggest.
Thes bolt right in. Bulb slips right in as well.
It also allow you to run clear bulbs, then if needed, push/slip into the plastic colored lense for parades, amber for fog lights or even LED bulbs and strobe lights of a different size that wont fit the factory metal housings. Comes with on pair of lights, one pair of bulbs, one pair or colored lenses. Can get the LED lights but they are much more expensive and will require a flasher. 06/26/08

1978 Kawasaki KZ 1000 Police Model C motorcycle.
16K original miles. The bike is complete, but I am taking the front end (windshield, fork ears, etc) and mounting them on a newer model bike. I will not be taking any switches or electronics. This has clean registration paperwork. It also has been stored for the last 12 years in heated storage. The engine still turns over, the gas tank is clean on the inside and has a key for the gas cap. The bike appears to have never been layed down as there is no road rash on the bag guards or the engine guard. I also have the OEM side covers. These are the same side covers on the KZ 900 Police bikes. The seat is in good shape, as are the saddle bags. The bags also have a working key, so I prefer to sell the bags as a pair, bit will sell seperate if need be. Bags are clean with out any cracks or damage! Basketweave driver seat good shape, all hardware, one small 1" tear in bottom corner.
Original rear shocks
Fairing with, storage bags and covers intake. Windshield is fair to poor with some scratches, pursuit lights removed and clear spots put in. No turn signals, used them for the custom work to the bike. Headlight intact and working.
Hard black saddlebags,(stock) with part the side and front bracket. The bags have the typical police ****s drilled in them. All price negotiable. It won't charge the battery so you put it on a charger at night. I have the voltage regulator for it (brand new) but with the short in the system the wires get hot when its plugged into the system. 1990 kz 1000 75,5982 I was told by previous owner it was rebuilt at 50,000 but dont have any paper work proving it. Dosent leak a drop, small electrical problem with lights.
